Sikorsky S-38B a beautiful little ten seat aircraft from the 1920s, seen here over a lake in Tanzania. Two bizarre claims to fame for the Sikorsky S38 involve two fatal crashes.
Crash number one involved a socialite who was determined to be the first woman to fly the Atlantic. With four people aboard and in the face of much opposition and bad weather she set off, never to be seen again. A radio message saying "Something is wrong here'" was picked up. And two years later a message in a bottle was found. The message read, "We are freezing, we ran out of fuel."
